Dear Springdale Middle School parents and students,
I hope this memo finds you and your family healthy and well. We are wading into some unprecedented waters as we initiate the State's emergency proclamation to close all schools. The middle school staff, along with the entire team in our district, are committed to making sure our students and community are safe and sound during this trying period.
The middle school staff has worked hard over these last few days to develop some optional learning activities to share with our students. We are currently working on a Chromebook and novel checkout procedure. Additionally, we are compiling an activity packet that will be shared with all students by the end of the week.
I encourage all students to develop and maintain a daily schedule that keeps them actively engaged. This could include dedicated reading time, puzzle or game time, outside play, or creative art time.
Most importantly, I encourage all families to sustain healthy habits and practices during this concerning time by;
- Maintaining social distancing and avoiding close contact with people who are sick,
- Practicing good hygiene by cleaning hands often by using soap and water or alcohol-based hand sanitizer, and
- Daily cleaning and disinfecting high-touch surfaces in common household areas (tables, hard-backed chairs, doorknobs, light switches, remotes, handles, desks, toilets, sinks).
Finally, we care about you and your family. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you need any help. If you are a first responder, health care worker, or severe need family who has child care concerns or needs meal delivery for school-age children, please call our central-line at 509.258.4798 for support.
Please feel free to reach out to me directly. I look forward to answering any of your questions. Stay tuned for a middle school memo and engagement packet!
Be safe and stay healthy,
Brett Joachim, Middle School Principal
