I hope this message finds you looking forward to a weekend filled with fun, rest, and time with loved ones. It's been a full and exciting week of teaching and learning across our campus. One of the highlights has been watching our students prepare for the upcoming Smarter Balanced Assessments by exploring the online tools and becoming familiar with the test format. With testing just two weeks away, we're proud of how our students are rising to the challenge with focus and determination.
A personal highlight for me this week was the incredible CTE Carnival! It was such a joy to see our high school students and staff lead fun games and hands-on activities for all ages. Somehow, I ended up with a hot pink pedicure—my first and likely only! I even took a few splashes in the dunk tank, which left me refreshed (and maybe still drying out). A huge shoutout to Titus, our heroic 5th grader, for "bailing me out" of the CTE Jail—thank you! Events like this remind me how special our school family is and how much I value connecting with our students and parents outside the classroom.
Today, our certificated staff gathered for a professional learning session and PLC (Professional Learning Community) collaboration. It was inspiring to hear teachers share how they're using classroom data to adjust instruction and meet the needs of their students. Across every grade level, our educators are engaged in ongoing cycles of inquiry, planning, and reflection to ensure that each child grows both academically and personally. We know that our focused work will develop confident, well-rounded, and sought-after graduates prepared for the future. This shared commitment to continuous improvement is at the heart of what makes Mary Walker a place where learners thrive.
As we head into the weekend, just a quick reminder—Monday is Class Picture Day! Dress your best and get ready to show off those bright smiles!
